Falkow, Havrilla, deLaurentis
Folk/pop
The girls are back in town, and one came from across the big pond to get
here. Longtime Philly-based singer-songwriter Nancy Falkow, who
relocated to Ireland in June, will join longtime friends/fellow
musicians Christine Havrilla and Amber deLaurentis tonight for an "in
the round" performance. Last time the girls got together like this was
in May, just before Falkow jetted off to be with her soon-to-be husband.
Falkow's especially looking forward to the reunion. "I'm not performing
nearly as much as I was in the states," she says. "I'm paying dues all
over again, but it's worth it."
Falkow, Havrilla and deLaurentis first joined forces three years ago
when singer Colleen McFarland put together a joint gig on a whim. The
four became three when McFarland moved to Nashville. Each brings
something special to the table: Falkow's honeyed voice, deLaurentis'
Professor Longhair-style piano-playing, and Havrilla's infectious
story-songs make for a bristling mix of estrogen-fueled synergy.
"The girls are so amazingly talented," Falkow says. "Their songs are
great, and each gal adds their own thing to make the show unique. The
harmonies and musical accompaniment flows effortlessly - like we've been
playing together all year."
Thu., Jan. 13, 8 p.m., $10, Nancy Falkow, Christine Havrilla and Amber
deLaurentis, The Point, 880 W. Lancaster Ave., Bryn Mawr, 610-527-0988.
