First of all, I want to take a moment to thank you for being a part of
this charity experiment. Every month, I am reminded what, as a group, we are doing to raise awareness and change so many lives. As we all know how funds are tight, especially around the holidays, it means so much that you take the time to donate to Dig Deep's chosen charities each month, even if it's A DOLLAR or A EURO.
This month's Dig Deep choice is personal one. A vibrant, young and beautiful friend here in Dublin passed away suddenly in October, leaving her amazing little 6 year old daughter and husband. They set up a memorial fund for her and I've chosen it for our pick this month. The donations go to the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation. I think this charity, for Peace, is also a wonderful way to end the year for Dig Deep.
Glencree is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that is devoted to peacebuilding and reconciliation in Northern Ireland, the Republic of
Ireland, Great Britain, and beyond. From the context of the protracted
conflict experienced in and between these islands, Glencree works towards understanding complex relationships, as well as cultivating new ones, between all people from all parts of society. The programme work builds peace and fosters reconciliation by facilitating dialogues, creating peace education resources, organising school programmes, and much more.
